This week has been quite a test to me.
It all started Monday night, when Lucas threw up in bed. Thank god the stomach flu didn't get too bad. He was a little fussy that day, but no more throwing up.
Tuesday I went to the Mall with my mom. When we got out, I had a ticket on my van. The thing is, that in Germany you have to have an inspection on your car every two years. Then you get a sticker to put on your plates, so the police can see when the next inspection is due. It's against the law not to have an inspection done. So Brian went through the Army and got an extension on that inspection. The thing is, that it's only written down in our registration. We never got a sticker for our plates. So I guess I'll have to write a letter to the German police with a copy of that extension and hope that they accept it. I don't know, if they will.
Wednesday, I was cooking in the kitchen. I opened one of my cabinet doors to get something out. That cabinet is fixed on the wall, right above the sink. It was filled with nothing by glass and porcellain and I assume it must've weighed about 100 pounds. Well, I opened the door and all of a sudden the whole thing comes down. I had glass vases on top, that flew down. Lucas was right behind me. Of course the vases were broken first. The floor was covered in broken glass. I tried to hold that thing a little. It was kind of fixed on top of the sink, but I didn't know if it would hold up. Luckily it did. I tried calling my brother, so see if they have to come over and move the thing off the faucet. My brother and dad were grocery shopping for a big event and if it weren't bad enough already, he told me, that my grandma was also in a very bad situation... She called a few minutes prior, that here blood pressure was very, very low (down to 30) and she need to see the doctor. So I kinda of freaked out as usual... Only then I saw that the glass cut through my jeans on my upper leg and one of my toes was bleeding. Not too much harm was done though. It was only little scrapes on my skin. I was lucky enough though. About ten minutes later my cousin was infront of the door. she came by to have a cup of coffee. So we both emptied the cabinet until it was light enough for us, to move it off. Then of course we saw that the faucet was junk. The water didn't stop dripping and there were lots of dents in the sink, on my wood floor etc. I shut the water of the whole apartment off, not knowing when I could get this fixed. Actually my dad didn't have time, as they prepared for a very big event with 230 people for Friday. But in the end, he made room and came over that evening, to install a new faucet and hang the cabinet back on the wall. Daaaaaaaaaaanke Papa!!!
Of course other things happened as well, that aren't that important to mention, but all of them summed up, just made my day... By the end of the day I let myself fall on the couch, exhausted as I was, forgetting that I set my cup of tea right next to were I sat... Yup... tea all over... Good thing, I got it all cleaned.
Yesterday morning, I woke up to a known smell... The smell of my menthol oil, that I use on Lucas' clothes at night, so he can breathe... Lucas woke up a little earlier and found it.. He put that oil all over his and my clothes.
Lucas' cold got worse. He couldn't breathe a whole lot and he started coughing. Good thing, that I had an appointment with the Doctor anyhow. I was there to get a vaccine shot, so the Doctor looked at him as well. I guess because of the shot, my immune system was down and now I developed a cold as well.
Today I wanted to go to our playdate with the whole baby group. In the middle of driving there, I heard a weird noise. At first I thought it was a truck right next to me, until I figured out, it came from my vehicle. I arrived there and a neighbour of my friend came out. He heard the noise and wanted to check. He got me all panicked, telling me it could be a bigger thing to get fixed... blah blah blah. So I tried to figure out what to do. I wasn't sure if I should dare driving home after the playdate or not. Again, I was really lucky, as one of the girls' hubby is a mechanic. He was supposed to pick her up anyhow. So he checked the car in the middle of the pouring rain and found that one of the air pipes in the hood is broken. He told me I could still drive home, but I have to get it replaced. So now I have to see if I can get it fixed on Monday. I'll try to call these mechanics in Heidelberg to see if they have the parts and an appointment. It sucks being without a car. I wish Brian would've let the battery in the Mustang, so at least I had that car now.
Oh well... I guess now it really can't get any worse. I was already afraid of finding out our next duty assignment this week, cause I knew it couldn't be great with all the luck I had this week. Brian kind of had some good news though today. He told me that we will have a 80 per cent chance to get a place in Colorado. He talked to that lady and she's trying to get us there. So keep your fingers crossed!!
